Many words have been written and said about the unique style and sound of the Israeli band BOOM PAM. Although the band plays mainly original music, everyone that hears it feels it sounds familiar as it goes straight to one's guts. The music is a mixture of rock with international flavors, including Balkan, Greek, Kleizmer, Arab, Mediterranean and others. The band has released its debut album collaborating with the German record label "Essay Recordings" and has just returned from a European tour, during which they played a successful showcase at the WOMEX 2006 (the World Music Expo which was held in Seville, Spain). BOOM PAM was formed in 2003 as a trio of 2 electric guitars and a tuba by Uzi Feinerman, Uri Brauner Kinrot and Yuval "Tuby" Zolotov. Shortly afterwards, the band started playing massively throughout Israel. Along the way, a drum set was added to the band, played by Dudu Kochav. The name of the band – BOOM PAM – is the name of a major hit, recorded by guitar-hero and singer Aris San. The latter was a Greek singer who immigrated to Israel during the late 1950s and fell in love both with the country and with a local woman. He was the first to combine electric guitar playing with an ethnic attitude, which was only played with traditional instruments until then. This attitude, of bringing new music with modern playing but which is deeply rooted in the long-lasting folk music, has always been an inspiration for the band members and has made them title their band with this symbolic name. The band also recorded a cover version of this song, sung in Greek by Berry Sakharof, one of Israel’s leading rock stars. This version also became a mega hit, ranking high on the charts. BOOM PAM has been playing in clubs, bars, concert halls, music festivals, weddings and other venues and occasions. The live act was found enjoyable in all forms of the scale between a tied concert hall and a wild alcohol party. Playing in Tel-Aviv and all around Israel, the show took place in venues of all sizes, from private houses to the Philharmonic Hall in Tel-Aviv, where the band was warming up for both the reunion show of legendary band "Minimal Compact" and Emir Kusturitza's "Non Smoking Orchestra". The band performed several shows in Tel-Aviv cooperating with German musician Stefan Hantel, better known as DJ Shantel. These successful local parties have led Shantel to invite the band to perform with him in Zurich, Berlin, Köln and Frankfurt. This collaboration was enthusiastically received by the local audience and initiated an interest of the local media. Back in Israel, the band kept being involved in numerous artistic collaborations. A specially made choreography was composed to several of the band's songs and the band performed it live with dancers of the "Bat-Sheva" Dance Ensemble. Another cover version to a song by Aris San was recorded and released with the band accompanying the original singer, Aliza Azikri. Boom Pam also performed with Berry Sakharof, "Hadag Nachash", and legendary oriental singer Ahuva Uzeri. Boom Pam's debut album was recorded in Frankfurt for the German label "Essay Recordings". The band co-produced the album with DJ Shantel. This LP was released during the spring of 2006 and is being distributed throughout the World. The album went straight into the top ten list of the European World Music Charts, ranking sixth on its second month on the list. Their shows for 2007 include winter and summer tours in Europe. The debut show of the band in North America will be at the globalFEST 2007, held in Jan. 21st in NYC.
